Tonight's edition of Talking Earth is the inaugural edition of Book Stab, where host Patrick Bocarde discusses the merits and mostly demerits of novels and poetry with guests. Tonight's guest is Ceylon Anderson. Mr Anderson was co-producer and co-writer of The Worriers, a parody of The Warriors, where Portland is plagued by gangs of poetry and mistakes in geography. Ceylon sets out to prove that Philip K. Dick is not worth reading and that everyone should read Robert Sheckley instead, while Mr. Bocarde attempts to defend Dick but fails ungallantly, eventually deciding to champion obscure novelist Bernard Wolfe. They both agree that everyone in North America should read Stephen Millhauser, specifically the novel Martin Dressler: The Tale of an American Dreamer. Miraculously, neither of them end up shouting the other down.
