The pianist Eric Reed was quoted by The Guardian as saying
Ahmad Jamal is to the piano trio
what Thomas Edison was to electricity.

That Created The Stan Kenton Orchestra Legacy.
And stop press - Harry Belafonte has died at 96.
In 1949, Harry had a little-remembered 5 night gig
at the Royal Roost jazz club in NYC, where he was accompanied
by Al Haig, Max Roach, Tommy Potter, Zoot Sims,
and Charlie Parker. Only one tune exists;
I'll mention on air where you can find it.
