Potted plants take a little extra care, but worth it if that is your only option. Plus, understanding the competition faced from weeds and grasses.

Host Glen Andresen is live in the studio, along with Jim Gilbert. Can heat whiplash cause long-lasting damage in our fruit and vegetable plants? Plus, a primer on caring for potted plants, both fruits and vegetables. And now is a good time to get a handle on the competition posed to your edibles from weeds and grass. Finally, don't shy away from thinning apples!

As always, we'll have a new Plant of the Month (honeyberry) and a new Garden Stumper (the winner gets a free sharpening of a hand tool from Cully Farm Store in Northeast Portland!). Plus, our Dirtbag Dictionary term  compares the terms ""monoecious and dioecious."  And, of course, what's annoying Glen this month...or at least what he's been thinking about!

Don't forget, if you have a gardening question, and don't want to call in, you can always email us at thedirtbag@kboo.org -- we'll answer your question on the air during the next show.
