On today's episode, we welcome Elizabeth Heider, author of the mystery novel May the Wolf Die from Penguin Books. Elizabeth is a PhD physicist whose most recent jobs include work for Microsoft’s AI4Science Research Program and the European Space Agency’s Human Spaceflight Program. Her short fiction has earned recognition from the Santa Fe Writer's Project Literary Awards and the New Century Writer Awards. Her non-fiction includes numerous research papers, a chemistry patent, and wargames written for the Navy and other US government agencies, as well as a comic series developed by the European Space Agency. She lived and worked in Naples, Italy for several years, deploying as a civilian analyst aboard U.S. and European naval ships, and she’s currently based in The Hague.
May the Wolf Die is Elizabeth’s first published novel and, if you’re like me, you’ll find it hard to believe she hasn’t already written a dozen. The book was named a New York Times Best Crime Novel of 2024, a Washington Post Best Mystery of 2024, and a Publisher's Weekly Best Book of 2024.
Elizabeth joins us from her home in the Netherlands.
