A legend of the underground comics scene is profiled in a long-awaited biography
Dan Nadel is an author and curator whose books include It’s Life As a I See It: Black Cartoonists in Chicago, 1940-1980; The Collected Hairy Who Publications; and the recently published Crumb: A Cartoonist’s Life, which follows the career and personal life of underground comics' most influential creator.
Dan is also co-curator for the upcoming Whitney Museum exhibition Sixties Surreal and Curator-at-Large for the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art. He sits down with S.W. Conser to discuss Robert Crumb's legacy and the influence of underground comics and outsider art on the wider culture.
