Women Poets Occupy KBOO Monday 12/14 10-11 PM Pacific Time
In November Carolyne Wright, poet, translator and co-editor of the new poetry anthology “Raising Lilly Ledbetter: Women Poets Occupy the Workspace,” journeyed from Seattle to join four Portland area contributors, Barbara Drake, Willa Schneberg, Penelope Scambly Schott and Barbara LaMorticella at Mother Foucault’s Bookshop in Portland, in a reading from the anthology and a discussion of our various work experiences.
The 140 poems in the collection are written by such a rich and diverse group of poets that Paul Constant of the Seattle Review wrote: “Ledbetter happily serves double-duty as an excellent survey of a wide array of women in contemporary poetry.” No matter who you are, he wrote, there’s sure to be something in this anthology that will open your mind or heart.
Tonight Talking Earth airs an hour excerpt of that reading, as well as an introduction by longtime Talking Earth host Barbara LaMorticella.
