How do you care for someone who is suffering from dementia, is in excellent health otherwise, and is adamant about living as independently as possible? In this episode, we meet Brenda, who is caring for her mother. Unlike the living arrangements described in previous episodes, Brenda’s mom lives in a semi-independent residential facility, a situation that presents its own set of unique challenges that have been exacerbated by the coronavirus pandemic. Brenda has honored her mom’s wishes and managed to meet the challenges and difficulties of coordinating her care with kindness, resilience and grace while learning much about herself in the process.
