It's national peach month and we do our part. Plus summer budding, summer pruning, and summer harvesting.

It's August…and that means peaches because August is National peach month! Host Glen Andresen is joined by Jim Gilbert to talk about Jim's peach trials, varieties to grow here, and summer budding (or bud grafting) of fruit trees. Plus, don't let certain veggies get too big! Keep harvesting to prolong the harvest. And we'll get an advanced look at Jim's work-in-progress documentary about his and others' visit to the former Soviet Union in 1991.

As always, we'll have a new Plant of the Month (peaches and nectarines). And reminder, the Garden Stumper is back! The winner gets a free sharpening of a hand tool from Cully Farm Store in Northeast Portland! Plus, our Dirtbag Dictionary clarifies the differnce between budding and grafting. And, of course, what's annoying Glen this month.

Don't forget, if you have a gardening question, or the answer to the Garden Stumper, you can email us at thedirtbag@kboo.org -- we'll answer your question on the air during the next show!

The Dirtbag... Listen. Laugh. Learn.
