Prepare now for frost and spring planting. Both are inevitable and the weather's better now! Plus the start of a short history of Oregon's land use planning laws.

Host Glen Andresen is joined by Jim Gilbert to talk about what you can do now, well before the first frost, to ensure your plants suvive. We also discuss what can be done now in anticipation of planting in the spring (yes, a half a year from now!). Plus Jim starts a series of short monthly segments explaining the history and virtues of Oregon's land use planning laws.

As always, we'll have a new Plant of the Month (jujubes). And reminder, the Garden Stumper is back! The winner gets a free sharpening of a hand tool from Cully Farm Store in Northeast Portland! Plus, our Dirtbag Dictionary term is calex. And, of course, what's annoying Glen this month.

Don't forget, if you have a gardening question, or the answer to the Garden Stumper, you can email us at thedirtbag@kboo.org -- we'll answer your question on the air during the next show!

The Dirtbag... Listen. Laugh. Learn.
