A landmark study, sure to be examined by our nation’s leaders, was just published by the Marine Corps Press, that fine organization that has been keeping order around the world, from the Halls of Montezuma to the shores of Tripoli. The study, written by military insider Elizabeth G. Boulton is entitled "Plan E: A Grand Strategy for the 21st Centruy Era of Entangled Security and Hyperthreats." It applies war theory and military strategy to the threat of the climate and ecological crises. She argues that activities of military and intelligent agencies, and indeed the whole economy, are: “Accelerating the likelihood of triggering a worst-case ‘Hothouse Earth’ scenario that would make the planet unlivable for most species.” The report calls for a “transformation” of the economy and foreign policy, and profound action in the next eight years. Bill Resnick reads from and comments on an article written by Robert Hunziker about the report. Entitled "Marine Press Takes on Hothouse Earth," Hunziker's article was published in Counterpunch on July 1, 2022.
