On Halloween eve, October 30th, Evan LaCour brings you an excellent Halloween radio special!
This years special will encompass an array of extremely underground haunted tunes from the 1980's.
I consider this an era of time that has been forgotten mostly and skill of these musicians can be evident in today's radio show. A lot of these musicians and bands released their music on tapes at the time.
The genres will vary from ambient and classical, to ethereal, new wave, and gothic. Other genres include coldwave, synth pop, industrial, and EBM. I bring you the best of a year of research into Halloween sounds.
The gothic genre has been particularly interesting to me because its not fully defined and a lot of music could be considered gothic; while others consider it to be ambient or rock music or industrial or synth pop. In general, the top theme of gothic music is scary sounds and talking about death; while a secondary theme is often sexual.
This show will only include cold, scary, dark, ethereal, psychedelic type sounds. I hope to capture the breadth of the 1980's scary music, which is a period of scary music production that I don't think will be matched. People are not as into being scared when compared to the 1980's and the internet, television, movies, and media scare us enough to the point where not a lot of people make this type of music currently.
