Views, Reviews, and Interviews from a Socialist-Feminist, Anti-racist, Anti-colonial and LGBTQ-positive Perspective

Denise Morris hosts this episode of the Old Mole, which includes a re-broadcast segment from Against the Grain:

Pipeline Populism: Many have concluded that the climate emergency will only be addressed by mass collective action. But given the small size of the U.S. left, who would populate such a movement? Scholar and participant-activist Kai Bosworth draws lessons from the struggles against the Keystone XL and Dakota Access oil pipelines in the Upper Midwest, which brought together a broad coalition of opponents, ranging from anti-capitalist to landowners. In conversation with Sasha Lilley, he discusses the populist side of that movement — its openings and limitations, including xenophobia and nationalism. Bosworth is the author of: Pipeline Populism: Grassroots Environmentalism in the Twenty-First Century.

The segment first appeared first on Against the Grain on KPFA on 4/24/23.

Against the Grain is a weekly radio show hosted by Sasha Lilley and C.S Soong on KPFA Pacifica Radio in Berkley, California. It’s a program of ideas, in-depth analysis, and commentary on political, economic, social, and cultural issues important to radical thinking and activism.
