Here’s 90 minutes of the best in eclectic roots music to start your day with a smile.
We start with some great covers of Jackson Browne songs by Kate Wolf, Bonnie Raitt, and Eliza Gilkyson.
A lot of great folk artists have called Portland home, and here are some of the best of the younger artists: John Craigie, Shook Twins, and Avery Hill, plus Portland native Todd Snider who now calls Nashville home, and Dan Weber, who recently moved to Dallas, TX.
Then we’ll hear some of my favorite songs by the late great Robbie Robertson by Joan Baez, The Band, and Amy Helm.
The last half of the program features a sample of great contemporary Celtic music .
Altan, Willos’, The Corrs, and Karan Casey hail from Ireland while Breabach, Daimh, Karine Polwart, and Capercaillie are some of the finest current artists from Scotland.
