Drax, a major British global manufacturer of wood pellets for bioenergy, plans to build an industrial-scale wood pellet plant in Longview, Washington.. The proposed siting of the Longview facility, along with two proposed two large biomass mills in California, would mark a major expansion of the industry outside of the U.S. Southeast, where most pellet making is currently centered.
On this episode of Locus Focus we talk with Brenna Bell, Forest Climate Manager with 350PDX, about how biomass is being promoted as a climate solution even though it leads to the massive destruction of forests.
