In a rare tip of my cap, this program opens with two songs featuring Wand’rin Willie and Willy the Wandering Gypsy. Willie is my nickname. In my research for related song titles I discovered that Wandering Willie is a ground cover weed, and that Sir Walter Scott wrote "Wandering Willie’s Tale" in 1824.
If you’re wondering what follows that wandering first set, Pastures of Plenty moved on to a variety of folk musicians, including Malcolm Holcombe, New Lost City Ramblers, Malvina Reynolds, Mary Travers and a very young Bob Dylan. Please join me for Pastures of Plenty Wednesday June 12th.
