It’s Fleet Week in Portland, meaning American and Canadian military ships are parked in the waterfront during the Rose Festival.

They’re welcoming visitors aboard the ships, but not all residents are eager to see them there.

More than a dozen local community organizations are putting on a People’s Summit and mobilization effort this weekend, calling to reject militarization.

KBOO’s Althea Billings spoke with Cody Urban, with the Resist U-S Led War Movement to learn more - this is their extended interview.

The People's Summit against U.S.-Led War will be held on Saturday, June 8th in Portland at the Da Vinci Arts Middle School, 2508 NE Everett St. from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
