On Tuesday, June 18th, the first day of a three day strike (plus a two day lock-out), Labor Radio host Laura Wadlin interviews six nurses on the picketline at St. Vincent Medical Center, one of six Providence hospitals with over 3,000 nurses on strike across Oregon. Gabriela, an Intensive Care nurse; Janeya, Kloey, and Jodee, Emergency Department nurses; Rebecca, a Labor and Delivery nurse, and Leah, a Pediatric nurse, all bear witness to the struggles of Providence nurses and their determination to win safe staffing, living wages and affordable health insurance, for themselves, their families, their patients and the community.
