 Intifada by Other Means

KBOO has fielded calls from listeners on a regular basis asking why we spend so much airtime covering Palestine and Palestinian issues.  So here is an answer:  The West might congratulate itself on anointing and  inspiring  what it is pleased to call the Arab Spring.  In fact this 'Arab Spring' is the extension the expansion of the Palestinian Intifada.  The only difference is that the Spring is sanctioned by the US and its European allies.Last night as Turkey withdrew is representatives in Israel in a momentous move on the eve of the United Nations General Assembly,  Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, said Israel's rejection of signed peace deals, pushes the Palestinians to head to the United Nations.  Abbas was meeting with the Quartet envoy to the Middle East peace process, Tony Blair in Ramallah.Abbas said that the Palestinians are ready to resume the stalled peace talks as long as Israel stops all of its violations, and proves its commitment to the foundations of the peace process. The Palestinian President further stated that the peace process is based on the two-state solution that ensures the establishment of an independent Palestinian state in the Palestinian Territories occupied by Israel in 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, and halting all Israeli settlement activities.Sailing into the United Nations General Assembly with a stiff headwind blowing hard from the Right, Abbas flatly stated that international recognition of the Palestinian State is a legitimate right that does not conflict with the peace process.  What Abbas did not say is that if you have trouble with the concept of Palestinian statehood and conflict…wait till you see what the Middle East looks like without Palestinian statehood…Washington and Tel Aviv are leading a campaign against the Palestinian-UN bid, and the White House can’t seem to stop itself from repeating,  “the resumption of peace talks is the only means to reach a peace agreement.”  ‘Honest Broker’?  Try, ‘1000-pound face-fucking eel-beast lying sack of shit’.  Or how about this:  Let’s just keep sending the Israelis billions of our tax dollars, so they can keep buying billions of dollars worth of wartoys, fire the wartoys at the Palestinians until someone decides to set off one of those “Mystery Nukes” that seems to be floating around the region, (“Three days of the week I’ve got thermonuclear capability…You guess which three…”) and suddenly Americans don’t feel so bad about not having schools, cops and post offices….
