On this edition of Century: Hemp in the Keystone State.
Federal law regarding hemp was changed recently and the hemp and hemp-derived products industry is in turmoil. There has been a backlash against those changes from the public, the industry, and some members of Congress. On January 15, the Center for Rural Pennsylvania held a Public Hearing entitled the 2018 Farm Bill: An Update on the Hemp Industry. We hear portions of that event including presentations by Beau Whitney, Chief Economist at Whitney Economics; Tyler Shannon, owner of the Shannon Family Farm in Adams County, Pennsylvania; and Cynthia Petrone-Hudock, Co-Chair of the Pennsylvania Hemp Steering Committee and Owner of Hemp Alternative.
