The World of Jazz celebrates an ever-evolving art form grounded in tradition and driven by innovation. Today’s episode moves fluidly from classic recordings to new releases, revealing the threads that keep jazz vibrant across time and place. We’ll hear a variety of artists ranging from Marian McPartland and Toshiko Akiyoshi to outstanding local Portland players like greaterkind, then step into the bold language of giants such as Thelonious Monk, John Coltrane, Herbie Hancock, and McCoy Tyner, and experience a special set highlighting the multi-genre work of guitarist Larry Carlton. Our journey today once again reveals jazz as a living conversation, constantly reinvented, endlessly curious, and always in motion.
