Ali Sharif on Permaculture in Latin America and Africa

We speak with permaculture expert Ali Sharif who has thirty years of permaculture field experience in 6 countries.

After taking his Permaculture Design course in the USA in 1984, Bill Mollison, the "father of permaculture," instructed Ali Sharif to take permaculture to Latin America.  Ali Sharif established the iconic organization PAL – Permacultura America Latina - which became the first legally registered Permaculture NGO in the USA, and in turn introduced the permaculture concept to US foundations and philanthropists.

For the next 27 years PAL became the conduit for the transfer and distribution of finance, expertise, books, volunteers and other diverse resources throughout Central & South America.

At 11:30 we hear an episode of Talk Nation, hosted by David Swanson. He speaks with Maurice Carney, co-founder and executive director of Friends of the Congo and Harvey Wasserman, activist and teacher. They discuss Racism, Environmentalism, and Ending War.
