Eclectic and prolific band from Benin

This week's show will feature the work of Le Tout Puissant Orchestre Poly-Rythmo de Cotonou, Benin -an oufit formed in the Atlantic port city in 1966. Over the years, Poly-Rhythmo's name and personnel evolved, and they played music in styles ranging from highlife, Afro-beat & funk, to Congolese rumba, soukous, Afro-Cuban --even some Ethiopian influence-- with an underpinning of indigenous Vodoun rhythms.
