Music from the festival in Kinshasa

For three days leading up to the legendary title fight between Muhammad Ali & George Foreman in Kinshasa, Zaïre billed as the "Rumble in the Jungle" was a music festival, the first of it's kind, featuring both African stars (Franco, Tabu Ley Rochereau, Miriam Makeba, etc.) and African-American stars (James Brown, B.B. King, Bill Withers, etc.).  While the performances of the Americans were well-documented in the films "When We Were Kings" and "Soul Power" the performances of the African artists were largely neglected until this year's release of "Zaïre 74: The African Artists" produced by the Festival's planners Hugh Masekela and Stuart Levine.

excellent show. couldn't help but think just how incredibly awesome it would be to have been at this event. "when we were kings" is an excellent documentary as well. thanks again.
