Gambian kora master and multi-instrumentalist
Foday Musa Suso emigrated in 1977 to Chicago, where he formed Mandingo Griot Society along with percussionists Hamid Drake and Adam Rudolph. Over the years, Suso has recorded a wide-ranging repertoire from traditional to the avant-garde, collaborating with many highly respected artists including Herbie Hancock, Bill Laswell, Jack DeJohnette, Pharoah Sanders, Kronos Quartet, and Philip Glass. This week's Africa O-Yé! features the music of Foday Musa Suso in it's many permutations.
