According to Wikipedia, Polyamory is the ability or capacity to love more than one person at a time. Sometimes seen as the practice of, or desire for, intimate relationships with more than one partner, with the knowledge of all partners involved, it has been described as "consensual, ethical, and responsible non-monogamy". People who identify as polyamorous believe in an open relationship without the jealousy of monogamy; they reject the view that sexual and relational exclusivity are necessary for deep, committed, long-term loving relationships. This concept is similar to the ideas and philosophies of polygamy.

The transgender experience can be fertile ground for exploring new meaning of what it means to be in relationship.  According to Christian Klesse in Notions of Love in Polyamory, "It [polyamory] is primarily due to the emphasis on honesty and consensus that polyamory is
frequently referred to as a “responsible practice of non-monogamy". Most publications suggest that polyamory
promotes a distinctive set of values. As a consensual approach to non-monogamy,
polyamory promotes an ethics based on honesty, respectful negotiation and
decision making, integrity, reciprocity and equality.

This week on Transpositive we will start a conversation that will stretch out over two or three shows where we explore different ideas about what it means to be in relationship in trans and non-binary relationships.  We will be joined by Jessica Hart who was not able to join us last week.  Jessica will share her unique journey as a trans woman whose identities intersect the communities of polyamory, pansexuality and kink/bdsm and we will also be joined by Eleanor Fontaine who will talk about their experience as a trans person in poly relationships.
