On Last Monday’s News In Depth, we previewed the Portland Book Festival, which is coming up this year on Saturday, November 9th. And the week before that, we focused on the 10th anniversary of the Portland Fermentation Festival, another annual event that’s unique to our city. On today’s In Depth segment, we put it all together – books and food – with guests from the panel “Home Cooking: New Classic Cookbooks”, taking place at this year’s Portland Book Festival.

Our good friend, and panel moderator, Liz Crain, is here live with us in the KBOO studios, along with the panelists -- Portland residents, John Becker and Megan Scott, and, joining us by phone from the Bay Area, Andrea Nguyen. Liz is co-founder of the Portland Fermentation Festival, and author of The Food Lover’s Guide to Portland, Hello! My Name is Tasty, The Toro Bravo Cookbook, and the forthcoming Dumplings Equal Love. Megan and John are co-authors of the latest edition of one of the best-selling cookbooks of all time, the Joy of Cooking. And Andrea is author of six cookbooks, including her most recent work  -- Vietnamese Food Any Day.

Megan and John will also be appearing at Powell’s City of Books on Sunday, December 8th at 7:30pm. You can pick up a signed copy of the latest edition of Joy of Cooking.
