On February 27th, Partnership for Safety and Justice (PSJ) held its annual Lobby Day in Salem, Oregon. PSJ Lobby Day 2020 was its largest to date with participants from across Oregon converging in Salem to help ensure that their legislators hear about the values that matter to Oregonians: to reduce our dependence on incarceration, increase funding for crime survivor services, and invest in local responses to crime.
Karen James attended the event and spoke with attendees about their personal messages to their legislators about public safety reform. We’ll hear from Andy Ko, PSJ Executive Director, Oregon Representative Tawna D. Sanchez (Democrat, Distr 43), Paul Solomon, Executive Director, Sponsors, Inc. in Lane County, Babak Zolfaghari-Azar, a Community Healing Initiative Family Care Manager for PortlandOIC + Rosemary Anderson High School, Claire Barrera, systems navigation and outreach coordinator with Project UNICA, and Patty Katz, Hands Across the Bridge.
