Dmae presents the continuing series of features on Black artists in Portland with a feature on Shani Harris-Bagwell, actor and political & media consultant. Shani recently joined the board for the Regional Arts and Culture Council and will be working with the Multnomah County CommissionAudit Review Committee. Her political career began at the young age of three "working the room" at a gala with her grandmother Willard Harris (who turned 100 five months ago!) and on political campaigns in the Bay Area.
Shani has shared her talents as an actor in many hit productions in Portland. Most recently Bootycandy at Fuse Theatre Ensemble and Bakkai at Shaking the Tree Theatre. For Shani, art and activism go hand in hand. Currently Shani is helping artists and organizations of color perform works virtually. Tune in to find out how.
