Three hours of good country music!

This week's Saturday morning show looks at some of Ray Charles' 1962 album Modern Sounds in Country & Western Music.

The five-song set of music from Texas was going to be fun, but now there's a sad note with the loss of Jerry Jeff Walker and then Billy Joe Shaver, two of the best songwriters and Texas style entertainers in the business.  Their music will be played for decades to come.

There's a brief look at juke boxes and honky tonks.  We'll try to wake you up with a bit of dance music early in the morning - there's a short burst of rock music from Loggins & Messina in that.  Can your mama dance while scrambling eggs?

The presidential election is supposed to be over, four days after the polls close.  But who knows?  This program does nothing to clear that up, but at the end there's a musical "plan" for our collective future, with songs titled Peace Train, The Best of All Possible Worlds, and Long Hard Ride.  Sound like a plan?  Nah, not really.  Also there's a short bit from the 1950s Howdy Doody kids TV puppet show:  the old curmudgeon politician puppet Phineas T. Bluster and host Buffalo Bob arguing about a mail-in contest.  Sort of like a mail-in election?  Nah, not really.
