Today's theme is South of the Border

The theme of today's show - hosted by Bill Resnick (on the left) -  could aptly be called "South of the Border." Virtually all of the show turns its eyes to South American politics, but also the harsh realities of humanitarian aid.  It features South American rebel-music by Intli-illimani, which Bill discusses in the end. Below are links to the other portions of the show.

1. Jan Haaken and Fran Michel review Oliver Stone's new movie about the South American political landscape, "South of the Border."

2. Bill interviews Mark Weisbrot, co-author of South of the Border, about the rise and status of South American popular governments.

3. Jan interviews Sophie Smith about No More Deaths, a humanitarian group delivering aid to undocumented immigrants.

4. Well Read Red, Bill Resnick, reflects on the over-turning of the gay-marriage ban in California.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Because we were given an extra 15 minutes on short notice, the CD on which we record the show for editing and posting on the web ran up. There is a KBOO technician working on extracting the missing portion from a master-log we keep, but it will probably take through the weekend. You can still listen to the listed segments from the show. The whole show is below, but cuts off about ten minutes prior to the end.
