One thing that beltway reporters in our nation’s Capitol would not ask yesterday during the two-hour press conference is the role of White Supremacy in Republican obstructionism.

One thing that beltway reporters in our nation’s Capitol would not ask yesterday during the two-hour press conference is the role of White Supremacy and how it causes Republican obstructionism. And even denial that Trump lost the election and that Biden is president of the United States. And the extreme danger it poses to American democracy.

And so I am spending 12 episodes (this is the third) starting on the anniversary of the assault on the Capitol –– on January 6, 2021 –– on this show AMERICAN STANDOFF looking at why the problem is that elephant in the room. The concept of whiteness? Why is whiteness the problem? Why does white self-identity correlate with far-right politics? And what does American history and American “exceptionalism” have to do with it?

Join us (and call in) for a new KBOO-FM Portland show called AMERICAN STANDOFF that will examine the current political divide in America from an Indigenous perspective given by host Jacqueline Keeler, a Native journalist based here in Oregon.
