We'll celebrate the late, great guitar pioneer Link Wray (pictured), who was just inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Musical Influence category. Wray first achieved his signature guitar growl at a concert by placing a vocal microphone in front of a guitar amp. In the studio, he reproduced the sound by punching holes in the amplifier, and his raw guitar sound inspired generations of rock musicians.
