That's it.  That's all you need to know.  Make those phone calls to your elected representatives right now...Because when the forests are all gone, you'll be pissing into the wind with your mouth hanging open.  We cannot afford to squander any more of what remains to the old Natural Capital account.  A hundred years ago when the law was passed that enshrined timber payments as the sole source of school funding we had plenty of trees, lots of trees, countless trees and very few children.  Now here we are  and it's 2011.  Isn't it time to wake the fuck up?  The problem confronting Cascadia in the Here and Now quite simply is this: way, way too many children and not enough trees left standing.  And on the subject of schools, apparently we aren't getting our money's worth from all this logging because we've unwitting created several generations of increasingly ignorant, arrogant simpletons whose motto is, 'Stupid and Proud of It'.   If all a person does with a lifetime is eat and shit - consume and create waste, what is that life worth in the end?  You can't "plant" a forest.  You can't "manage" the wilderness.  And once it's gone, it's gone.  When we are shit out of trees, only the wealthy will be allowed to breath the privatized air.  And if you think they wouldn't do it...Don't hold your breath..

All this and Horace Campbell as well.   Read his books and recent articles.www.horacecampbell.net/
