Midday Thursday, Portland City Council resumed its second day of debate over who should be the next Council President, after an 8 hour meeting the day before with repeated deadlocked votes between sitting Council President Elana Pirtle-Guiney and Councilor Sameer Kanal. That debate was expected to continue, with the introduction of new candidates, in Councilors Loretta Smith and Steve Novick. But the council's meeting was abruptly adjourned, as leaders were pulled away for a briefing on the two Portland residents shot by Border Patrol outside of Adventist Hospital. We listen in to their conversation on their return.
