Can a dictatorship become democratic without a revolution? Guest, Edith Mirante  Portlander and founder of Project Maje  joins host Linda Olson-Osterlund in the studio. She talks about the surprising and rapid transition to democracy going on in Burma and the ongoing struggle of minorities there as well. In November, Mirante traveled to Burma including areas of conflict in the northeastern border area. She will bring us up to date on the struggle of the Kachin minority and their war with the Burmese army. Parliamentary elections are scheduled for April 1 2012 with Nobel Peace Prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi freed and running for office. Big changes are taking place in all aspects of life.
