Ladysmith Black Mambazo; Yennayer (Berber New Year); Okaidja Afroso

The great South African vocal group Ladysmith Black Mambazo will be here in Portland later this month, so we will listen to some of their recent work.

Also, the celebration of Berber (Amazigh) New Year (Yennayer) happens this Saturday, 1/13. Portland is now home to the amazing Algerian musician Moh Alileche, and he will be offering a free performance. We'll tell you more about that and play a sampling of his and other Algerian Berber music.
