What does it mean to age in place?

That was one of the questions under consideration at the kickoff event for a statewide Age-Friendly Summit today.

At the Asian Health Services center in Portland, Governor Kate Brown, Mayor Ted Wheeler, and other advocates spoke about innovations in housing, transportation, economic development, and health that can help make cities more livable for residents of all ages.

KBOO’s SJ Oxendine was at the summit this morning, and caught up with Ruby Haughton-Pitts, the Oregon state director for AARP, Elaine Freesan Strang, the Volunteer coordinator in Oregon for AARP as well as Joyce Demonnin, the communications director for Oregon AARP.

More information on the Age-Friendly summit, and its proposals, can be found online at states.aarp.org/oregon
