The Sri Lankan government has been on a campaign to eliminate the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (or Tamil Tigers) with no regard to the civilian population caught in the crossfire.

With virtually all independent news sources banned from the area, accurate news reports of the conflict are hard to verify.
In April, the United Nations issued a report saying that over 6,400 Sri Lankan civilians have been killed since mid-january.
Kboo Reporter, Geoff Watland, spoke with University of Illinois Law Professor, Francis Boyle, about the situation in Sri Lanka .
