Views, Reviews, and Interviews from a Socialist-Feminist, Anti-racist and Anti-colonial Perspective

Patricia Kullberg hosts this episode which includes the following segments:

Biden/Harris Climate Plan: Bill Resnick talks to Carla Frisch who worked for ten years in the U.S. Dept. of Energy before going to the Rocky Mountain Institute to help cities develop and implement radical climate action plans. They discuss the Biden/Harris Plan, which is the most sweeping action plan to ever be offered by a national politician or political party. It will be strongly opposed and meaningfully implemented only with significant public pressure.

Doctors Unionize: Patricia Kullberg speaks with Dr. Anushka Shenoy, a physician-in-training in psychiatry at Oregon Health Sciences University and a leader of the newly established OHSU House Officers Union. They discuss the punishing working conditions of physicians-in-training (also known as house officers, interns and residents), how increased privatization and profit-making in the health care industry have made the medical encounter worse for both doctors and patients, and the ways that unions might help reverse some of those trends. For more see the website: House Officers Union.

The Puzzle Women: Book Mole Larry Bowlden reviews The Puzzle Women, by Anna Ellory. A mother attempts again and again to save herself and her two children from her abusive husband, running finally from West Gemany to East Germany before the fall of the wall. She sends notes from the past to her children so they will know of her intense love for them.

Race, Disease and Depression: Sharon Grant, a community health educator for Multnomah County Health Dept, reads from an article printed in the Middletown Press (CT) on June 21, 2020, titled "Racial unrest, disease, depression: 1919 versus 2020." The article draws parallels to the social. political and pandemic realities of today.
